A17Forkybest303 35edo shower detemper

"35edo detemper using some weird idea i thought in the shower. its kind of a compromise between what i did with 23L 12s, 27L 8s and 79L 19s <7/1> mosses i did. this is just 35L 7s with the small steps coalesced to their average."

Domin Zutsz-11 scale

The Zutsz-11 scale is a 10-tone 2.3.7.11 just intonation scale. It was first described by Domin in July 2024 and then indpendently described again by Finky in December 2025.

12-tone piano tunings recommended by DeltaQuartz (10L 2s diaschismic[12] & 3L 9s augmented[12])

While not discovered by DeltaQuartz per se, the case they make for these is worth documenting.

"I just stumbled upon some pretty awesome 12-tone piano temperaments that feel like analogues to meantone but for sharp fifth tunings. One of them is for diaschismic tunings like 22edo, 34edo, 46edo, etc. with a 600c period, giving sweet 5/4 thirds in 8 keys (the same as meantone), a pretty cozy way to explore their 5-limit when these are often tunings that have bizarre layouts otherwise, and tritone sub-able in every key! The other is for augmented tunings like 15edo, 27edo, 39edo, etc. with a 400c period, giving every key the same major third and 6 keys an easy access harmonic 7th as their minor 7th.

For MOS-minded folks, the first scale is 10L 2s, the second is 3L 9s."

FilterNashi majorminth scales

English Wikipedia has an article on:

"i found a scale tempered 352/351 suspiciously similar to Hirajoshi which is

  • 9/8
  • 11/9
  • 3/2
  • 13/8
  • 2/1

and 352/351 tempered.

it's a better approximation than 1-9/8-6/5-3/2-8/5-2/1 known as Hirajoshi Just in the preset scale of Scale Workshop.

i found a 6-note scale first and its subset of retrovert is suspiciously similar to Hirajoshi - the scale itself is:

  • 1-12/11-32/27-4/3-18/11-16/9-2, 352/351 tempered.

so the scale i found was quite interesting because its a seven-note scale with every interval within 13-odd-limit (rank3)

five-note scale found in majorminth (tempered 352/351 in the 2.3.11.13 subgroup TE tuning):

  • 205.931
  • 345.590
  • 702.798
  • 842.456
  • 1199.664"

Seven-note versions

"these two scales are called paranice, due to sharing the same pattern with nicetone.

1madjack1 originally used a different word than 'stuff'. Nonetheless the scale they created (in April 2026) is of musical interest, approximating a bunch of 13-limit intervals within 20 cents in its various rotations:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
1/1 1/1 ~32/31 ~14/13 ~11/9 ~3/2 ~11/7 ~13/8 ~11/6 2/1
~32/31 1/1 ~26/25 ~13/11 ~22/15 ~3/2 ~11/7 ~9/5 ~31/16 2/1
~14/13 1/1 ~8/7 ~7/5 ~16/11 ~3/2 ~19/11 ~13/7 ~25/13 2/1
~11/9 1/1 ~5/4 ~9/7 ~4/3 ~3/2 ~13/8 ~27/16 ~7/4 2/1
~3/2 1/1 ~32/31 ~14/13 ~11/9 ~4/3 ~15/11 ~7/5 ~8/5 2/1
~11/7 1/1 ~26/25 ~13/11 ~9/7 ~4/3 ~11/8 ~11/7 ~31/16 2/1
~13/8 1/1 ~8/7 ~16/13 ~14/11 ~4/3 ~3/2 ~13/7 ~25/13 2/1
~11/6 1/1 ~13/12 ~9/8 ~7/6 ~4/3 ~13/8 ~27/16 ~7/4 2/1

Budjarn Lambeth recommends 20edo, 72afdo, or 85afdo (17x5 semi-primodality) as a tuning for this scale. He recommends the following, vaguely pelog-like subset for writing melodies:

119.443
347.408
720.000
839.443
1200.000
