Non-octave stuff

This is a bit of a nit, but would be nice if the box said 'edt join' instead 'edo join' for tritave temperaments (and similarly for other equaves). See e.g. Mintaka. – Sintel🎏 (talk) 22:14, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

What would be chosen as the equave? -- VectorGraphics (talk) 00:57, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Imo these should simply be ET join and always use wart notation whenever the formal equave is a prime harmonic e.g. mintaka is b5 & b17 (not *5 & 17). —FloraC (talk) 10:33, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

Banish "reduced mappings" to the shadow realm

Make this infobox not completely break if you don't supply the precise "reduced mapping" format it wants, because I can't understand the Reduced mapping page and am not figuring allat out and it's probably the main thing that's been putting me off adding these infoboxes. -- VectorGraphics (talk) 06:53, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Fyi my initial version of the Reduced mapping article was perfectly readable. Then hkm changed it to something that no one understands. Guess it's time to review it. —FloraC (talk) 08:06, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
I don't think the reduced mapping is useful at all, and even if it was it doesn't have a wide enough support to justify it being in the infobox. – Sintel🎏 (talk) 10:56, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
I find the reduced mapping to be very useful. --TallKite (talk) 00:02, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Target scale size

Is there an exact convention for what this should be? Possible answers include the smallest MOS with all odd harmonics in the limit accessible from the same root, and the smallest MOS with all intervals in the odd limit accessible from the same root. Most pages use the latter, but I prefer the former, as the latter sometimes gives overly large scales. For example, in miracle temperament, the minimum size of a scale to reach both 11/10 and 20/11 from the same root is 45, and the smallest MOS of at least that size is 72, at which point you might as well use all of 72edo. I'll change some pages to use the former; feel free to revert if you want.--Overthink (talk) 04:38, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

I think the former makes more sense too since we're talking about scales, so like diatonic in meantone, you can reach the other tonality thru rotation.
I should add the definition for this number is the smallest mos that is greater than the q-odd-limit Graham complexity for the temp.

Ploidacot

The correct ploidacot for decimal is diploid dicot. This template gives diploid alpha-dicot. Something to do with the algorithm in the module. FloraC (talk) 08:57, 23 October 2025 (UTC)

Also, acot doesn't work properly. In the infobox for blackwood, I made the first zero as 0, as putting a zero at the start creates an error. I believe the infobox read the mapping as "5; 1 0" rather than "5; 0 1 0", and I overrid the ploidacot. I tried to re-add the infobox to bixby with the small big zero trick, but this time it doesn't work, as it reads the mapping as "1", which may be the reason there's an error. In general, the mapping code need to be reworked.--Overthink (talk) 21:50, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
When adding the infobox to negri, I found the ploidacot appears as tetracot, but it should be omega-tetracot.--Overthink (talk) 17:49, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

A variety of issues

As mentioned in the previous section, when adding the infobox to negri, I found the ploidacot appears as tetracot, but it should be omega-tetracot. Also, when I tried to use 15/8 as the generator, after adding the generator size, the infobox broke completely. It should also properly link EDOs using alternate vals in the EDO join, which doesn't work as seen in archon, and may be a problem in other temperaments like squares (14c&17c) as well, though 31&45 is also plausible. Overall, there are a lot of bugs.--Overthink (talk) 17:54, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
