Bryan Deister has demonstrated a 13L 3s mapping for 93edo in microtonal improvisation in 93edo (2025). The following YouTube comment needs to be converted into real Xenharmonic Wiki text for this. I see 16L 3s or 16L -3s from the pattern, and down-right is -1\93, so I'm going to go with 16L -3s --> 15L 1s (even though 93EDO is contorted with this scale) with L = Right = 6 and s = 3 as 3 steps down-right and 1 right, for Up = 7. The lower left corner is chopped off, so note 5 must be half way down the left edge, and note 0 is 5 down-right from that (orange key at what looks like the lower left corner but isn't really). Since 93EDO is contorted with 15L 1s (which was actually just to find what the color pattern means), to find a scale that it isn't contorted in, and since each successive 0 is 3 rows down and 1 row right from the note 90 in the octave before, I'll try 13L 3s with step ratio 6:5, and each small step is down-right + right. But then that doesn't have a good generator (64\93 bright and 29\93 dark) doesn't have a good ratio that maps correctly to it, but I see that following a row (Right = 6\93) you can get 23/22 going 1 key; going right 2 keys makes a ~35/32 neutral second (which you use quite a bit of later on in the video); 3 right = ~8/7 going right 3 keys; 5 right =, ~5/4; and 8 right = ~10/7. By itself this would produce contortion again, so the up generator 7\96 = ~20/19; 4 steps up makes ~16/13; 5 steps up makes ~13/10, and 9 steps up makes ~8/5. So I'm calling a rank-3 temperament, but I don't know the name. | |||
