: I should add that the megabyte comma doesn't have this problem because 1048576/1048575 is fairly low-prime-limit (41-limit specifically) while 1048577 = 17 * 61681. However if this comma gets renamed to "kibibyte" then definitely that comma should get renamed to "mebibyte" for consistency. --Godtone (talk) 16:38, 5 March 2024 (UTC) | : I should add that the megabyte comma doesn't have this problem because 1048576/1048575 is fairly low-prime-limit (41-limit specifically) while 1048577 = 17 * 61681. : Should it matter, I think the prefix "kibi" could be used alone, without the "byte" reference, to give a shorter name like "kibisma" or "kibi-comma". This might help reduce the confusion with the more obvious 1024/1000 ratio one might be tempted to think about here. --Fredg999 (talk) 02:38, 6 March 2024 (UTC) | : Should it matter, I think the prefix "kibi" could be used alone, without the "byte" reference, to give a shorter name like "kibisma" or "kibi-comma".
