Welcome to the TempClean WikiProject!

Goals

To improve XenWiki's coverage of regular temperament theory in a way that can give beginners a chance to understand what the subject is about, what it is useful for, and the reasoning behind its conventions.
To bring all articles on regular temperaments to an appropriate standard.
To establish guidelines for articles on temperaments and temperament collections.

This project covers all articles in the categories listed under "Categories under Jurisdiction".

Special thanks to Domin, for discussions with him that ultimately motivated the long-overdue creation of this initiative.

Open tasks

Create a high-quality, encyclopedic article for every deemed-important temperament, rather than just stubs or endless unexplained tables.
Revise all temperament collections and families to the ideal of specifying data in a compact, but more readable and directly useful manner.
- Priority: Create reference sets of basic information that must be included in the above, although with the expectation of going beyond these sets.
Add examples (of comma pumps, modal studies, and of course actual tracks) to as many articles as possible, to demonstrate the musical effectiveness of temperaments.
Eliminate unnecessary traces of the former incremental-prime-limit approach to RTT, and make it easier to give subgroup temperaments and incomplete-limit temperaments their place.
Rectify many names of temperaments that might be confusing or interfere with other uses of words, and assignments of names to rather unnatural extensions.
Increase the level of didactics and beginner accessibility of content related to RTT, and further delineate masses of technical data from general-use temperament articles.
- Priority: Complete the Technical data guide for regular temperaments and bring Temperament families and clans to a useful form.
Establish a system to denote articles under the project's scope that demonstrate particular quality.

Tasks promised by members

Lériendil: To finish the optimal tuning section of the data guide, and propose certain additions to temperament family pages (e.g. representations of prime harmonics with the optimal tunings).

CompactStar: To finish the task of updating the remaining tritave-based temperament articles that are severely lacking (following the model of the Mintaka and Bohlen-Pierce-Stearns articles), and to merge the catalog of 3.5.7 subgroup rank two temperaments into No-twos subgroup temperaments. To continue to upgrade the template for auto-generating temperament data given the initial specification.

Cole: To add more audio examples to deserving pages (and to add musical properties of important temperaments).

Proposals for future direction

Lériendil:
- The creation of an infobox for regular temperament articles.
- The addition of prime harmonic tunings (in a collapsible table) to technical data references.

CompactStar: The mass rename of "temperament clan" articles to "temperament family" articles (to undo some of the prime-limit-centrism) and specifying the rank of the existing "temperament family" articles if not defined by a 5-limit single-comma.

Completed tasks

Lériendil:
- The mass redirection of obsolete "node" pages to actual articles on regular temperaments or sections of technical data references.
  - The addition of wedgies to 7-limit, 11-limit, and 13-limit temperaments that were stored on the node pages previously.
- The creation of the 2.5.7 subgroup article and revisions to 2.3.7 subgroup.
- Several sections of the data guide.

Template:Under review by Wikiproject TempClean will be deployed on articles that are determined to need severe cleanup to get in line with the wiki's standards. Further templates are under consideration (proposal: an infobox for regular temperaments?)
