User talk page

hey. what does this do

It allows users of the Wiki to talk to each other. Also, welcome to the wiki- I'm sure you remember me from the Discord. Even though I'm not on the Xenharmonic Alliance server anymore, I still hang around here. --Aura (talk) 02:30, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Of course! I do remember you fondly. Why'd you leave the discord server?
Well, it was mainly to avoid getting in trouble with the mods there, but there were other reasons as well- namely that I feel kind of isolated in that server, and, truth be told, I get the sense that I'm a bit of an outsider. I'm still on Discord at large- just on other servers- and I suppose we could get back in touch on Discord. --Aura (talk) 10:01, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
For the record, my discord handle is still what it says on my userpage- I bring this up because I don't think we've spoken in DMs before on Discord. --Aura (talk) 10:16, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
We haven't, actually... we've only spoken in voice chats in the XA discord server. I'd love to have a chat.
Why I'm suddenly on the Xen Wiki, well... I had an urge, to no longer be a reader but a contributor.
In that case, go ahead and mention your actual discord username on your userpage here, and I'll see if I can find you. By the way, you might want to sign your comments in these talk pages with two consecutive instances of "-" followed directly by four instances of consecutive "~". --Aura (talk) 17:12, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
I see you posted your Discord username, and I sent you a friend request. --Aura (talk) 19:21, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

User pages

How do I add external pages linked to my user page to put all my incessable ramblings on them

See Help:User pages#Subpages. You can create a page by searching for the title you want, then clicking the red link that shows up on the search results page near the top, where it should say that no page on the wiki has this exact title (unless of course the page already exists). --Fredg999 (talk) 20:13, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! And also thanks for fixing up my talk page --Eufalesio (talk) 20:24, 11 September 2025 (UTC)

Cataloguing new temperaments

Plz follow existing format when adding them. Thank you. —FloraC (talk) 16:45, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

What existing format? The one that I added is the most recent, as far as I'm aware. It's the other temps in the page which should follow. Subgroup, Comma list, Mapping, WE/CWE Error, Optimal ET sequence, Sintel Badness, that's the current format isn't it? --Eufalesio (talk) 17:37, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Yes. However, I'm talking about the details. For example, you omitted the subgroups for some of them. Instead, you put subgroups in the section titles in a different way than most other pages do. This is understandable cuz many pages hasn't been updated to follow the most recent format, but some of the common pages have. Some other maintenance work I need to do include sorting the commas into order, spelling octave fractions in cents, and place the badness metric before the numbers.
I also believe we can keep the name gariwizmic from the 11-limit onwards. There are no competing extensions.
FloraC (talk) 20:42, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Fair, though keeping names similar across similar extensions and variants "garibaldi => garischismic => gariwizmic ; cassandra => cassaschismic => cassawizmic" is useful, unless the temperament is so good as to merit a proper name... you know, if you like something, give it a name!

Tempering vs tempering out, and formatting

Plz make sure not to use the generic temper to refer to temper out. I noticed this a number of times. Also, plz use Template: Monzo to notate monzos. Plus we have Template: Overline to notate repeating decimals, in case you don't know. Thank you again. —FloraC (talk) 18:13, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

???

What's with this that you inserted? ―FloraC (talk) 10:13, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Prime limits/subgroups in color notation! Since many of those are extremely easy to type and since I'm very keen on using color notation I added a bunch of redirects to the limits and [AKA] describing them. After all, given that color notation is semi-standard in the wiki being featured in almost all if not all interval pages, this is the next step forward. --Eufalesio (talk) 11:30, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
That's not what I'm talking about. I mean the CSS gibberish, which I've noticed in several of your edits before. —FloraC (talk) 11:49, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
I don't know what that is... --Eufalesio (talk) 12:09, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
Maybe a bug on the wiki side. One reason I recommend the source editor, or at least switching to source editor between editing and saving. —FloraC (talk) 13:42, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
Actually, it may be due of me using Dark Reader on Safari... I see a lot of "data-darkreader". --Eufalesio (talk) 16:00, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
Ah, it's Safari again. The browser that caused the greatest pain for the wiki in the past. —FloraC (talk) 16:30, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
Oh well. I'll use Brave instead. --Eufalesio (talk) 20:58, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Color notation

I do think it's overrepresented on this wiki. At least I don't think it needs to be in every interval list of edo pages and prime/odd limit pages. —FloraC (talk) 11:49, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

It's surely a subjective matter – I've lately been using color notation and influencing it in significant ways... Partly as a way to participate in something bigger instead of trying (and mostly failing) of spreading a notation of my own. But still... the fact you think it is overrepresented is likely because you don't use it. I do, and it feels well represented. Yet, we will expand. --Eufalesio (talk) 20:58, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
