Kilobyte comma is not a good name.

Not only because the "kilobyte comma" is obviously 128/125 = 1024/1000, making this name very counterintuitive, but also because this comma should be named something based on its musical implication, which is also quite obvious so it's honestly sort of puzzling to me that it wasn't named something based on the fact that it's equal to (32/31)/(33/32), representing an essentially-tempered stack of two (slightly large) quarter-tones (which can be revoiced to not be directly adjacent for greater consonance/musicality). I strongly suggest either the "quarter-tone ambiharmonisma" (importantly also see Talk:1025/1024) or maybe "lesser quartertonisma" if it's not reserved, under the reasoning that then (31/30)/(32/31) would be the "greater quartertonisma" (given that those commas introduce 32/31 to the 11-limit and 5-limit (respectively) by representing its function as a type of quarter-tone, and given that 1089/1088, 1156/1155 and 1225/1224 - the other obvious quarter-tone commas (being S33, S34 and S35 resp.) - all already have reasonable enough names and correspond to smaller prime limits, while these two commas are concerning 31 specifically). --Godtone (talk) 14:53, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

I agree that kilobyte comma can be a bit confusing but I object to quartertonisma since 1156/1155 is already quadrantonisma and it's inelegant to have such a similar name deriving from on the same reason. FloraC (talk) 15:17, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

"Kibibyte" is good enough for me too, it at least makes it less confusing. I raised issue with the current name because there are strong reasons for renaming this comma. I do think it'd be more ideal to have a name based on the musical/harmonic implications of tempering the comma out though. --Godtone (talk) 15:32, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
