Merge into Software?
I have been unable to find a good reason to keep this page separate from Software. They were probably created with different purposes in mind, as the sidebar seems to suggest (Software under Practice, Useful Tools under Theory), but I'm still unconvinced. Both lists share many items now, there's a "research" section in Software, there are many links in Useful Tools that relate more to exploration than research, etc.
I prefer the page title "Software" over "Useful Tools", although I'd probably go for a "List of..." format, since it's a list article. "List of software" sounds a bit too generic though, and I have yet to find a better (especially concise) phrasing to indicate that it's software related to microtonal music and tuning practice/theory. In any case, I suggest merging the pages. Any thoughts? --Fredg999 (talk) 03:43, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- To me, such a merge seems like a good idea (both are lists), though I must admit I don't particularly like the "software" lemma. --Xenwolf (talk) 09:11, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- I think we could take direct inspiration from Wikipedia: List of music software. The word "software" seems to be the most appropriate here, but it shouldn't be alone in the title. Of course, we would focus on software that supports xenharmonic music, compared to Wikipedia's list, but mentioning that in the title might just overload it, since the context should be clear. --Fredg999 (talk) 14:13, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- I’m also in favour of merging the two articles. “List of Music Software” sounds like a good name to me too. --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 03:09, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
