Name as title instead of ratio?

I don't suppose people would type a ratio as complex as this. Maybe textual name is better for 5-digit or more complex intervals? FloraC (talk) 05:42, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Look at 32805/32768, the page for the schisma. All we need is a similar redirect. --Aura (talk) 05:50, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Do you mean all pages for rational intervals should use the ratio? If not, there will be a threshold beyond which we want to use the textual name. What will it be? FloraC (talk) 06:04, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
I definitely think that there is a threshold beyond which we want to use the textual name. Personally, I think that 5 digits should be the max for the numbers in any part of the ratio- any more than that and I'd want to use the textual name instead. --Aura (talk) 06:11, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
At the end of the day, the rule that I seem to see on this wiki is that if the number of digits in either the numerator or the denominator is greater than the number of fingers on one hand (including the thumb), you use a textual name as the article name, with redirects happening for 4-digit and 5-digit ratios for the convenience of people like Kite. --Aura (talk) 06:47, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
I'd plead for 4-digit numbers normally, but it should be possible to have exception for prominent cases. Some people (including me) may find 65536/65535 highly memorable. But we should keep in mind that distinguishing numbers by eye gets harder with every digit and the probability of mistakes raises. Big numbers are also hard to pronounce. Interestingly we will not have to deal with the full range of 10^(2*4) possibilities in this wiki, because nominator (n) and denominator (d) normally follow the rule 1 < n/d < 2, I've to admit that I didn't calculate the saving. --Xenwolf (talk) 07:53, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
+1 for 4-digit numbers. This comma in particular isn't easy to memorize, and it can be confused with 10976/10935. FloraC (talk) 14:32, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
In this case, let's also move the schisma article to schisma, seeing as that's the article I've been using as a benchmark... --Aura (talk) 15:12, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
