Rotation

This is but the first rotation of 1-5/4-25/16 i.e. 16:20:25. I suppose we can cover all the rotations in the same page, no? FloraC (talk) 11:58, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

Normally a rotation of a JI chord either doesn't change its root (inverting C major is still C major), or does change its characterization (128:160:180:225 is a “French sixth”, but its rotation 180:225:256:320 is a “dominant seventh flat five”). These rotations are unusual in that the altered root shares the same conventional characterization.
I'd like to be able to index the chords in JI scales (such as the duodene) by tuples of <root, character>, so I think it's useful to keep separate chord pages for the specific augmented-rotation chords — but I should probably link to the 16: rotation and emphasize that connection.
