Frostmic chords are essentially tempered chords tempered by the frostma, 245/242.

Frostmic chords are of pattern 1a in the 2.5.7.11 subgroup 11-odd-limit. There are 3 triads, 6 tetrads and 2 pentads, for a total of 11 distinct chord structures.

The three frostmic triads include a palindrome since it identifies 8/5 by a stack of two 14/11's:

  • 1–5/4–11/7 with steps 5/4, 14/11, 14/11.

And an inversely related pair:

  • 1–11/7–7/4 with steps 11/7, 11/10, 8/7, and its inverse
  • 1–11/10–7/4 with steps 11/10, 11/7, 8/7.

They can be extended to the following palindromic tetrads:

  • 1–11/8–11/7–7/4 with steps 11/8, 8/7, 11/10, 8/7;
  • 1–11/10–11/7–7/4 with steps 11/10, 10/7, 11/10, 8/7.

And inversely related tetrads:

  • 1–5/4–11/7–7/4 with steps 5/4, 14/11, 11/10, 8/7, and its inverse
  • 1–5/4–10/7–11/7 with steps 5/4, 8/7, 11/10, 14/11;
  • 1–5/4–11/8–11/7 with steps 5/4, 11/10, 8/7, 14/11, and its inverse
  • 1–11/10–11/8–7/4 with steps 11/10, 5/4, 14/11, 8/7.

The inversely related pair of pentads are

  • 1–5/4–11/8–11/7–7/4 with steps 5/4, 11/10, 8/7, 11/10, 8/7, and its inverse
  • 1–11/10–11/8–11/7–7/4 with steps 11/10, 5/4, 8/7, 11/10, 8/7.

Equal temperaments with frostmic chords include 9, 12, 15, 23de, 24, 26, 27e, 38d, and 41.
