(Shannon, [math]\displaystyle{ \sqrt{nd} }[/math])
495/494, the eulalisma, is a 19-limit superparticular comma of about 3.5 cents. It is the amount by which a stack consisting of 13/11 and 19/18 falls short of 5/4. In terms of commas, it is the difference between 352/351 and 1216/1215, among other relations. By tempering it out is defined the eulalismic temperament, which enables the eulalismic chords. This temperament has a number of notable properties:
- 13/11 and 19/15 become fifth complements;
- 15/13 and 22/19 become fourth complements.
Etymology
The name eulalisma was named by Xenllium in 2023. It refers to 495 Eulalia, the asteroid. Which was in turn named after the grandmother of its discoverer.
