Ideally, this article should make it more obvious and add connections to it, such as formulas that give the frequency or pitch associated with string number n (for a given layout with all other parameters set). - I agree. The underlying tuning system is an arithmetic length sequence (given the variable z as "constant size increment"), or an arithmetic frequency sequence for the inversion. Ideally, this article should make it more obvious and add connections to it, such as formulas that give the frequency or pitch associated with string number n (for a given layout with all other parameters set).
