"Gene" vs step of 311?
Isn't "gene" already taken as a step of 311edo? P.S. Honestly I'd rather it be removed from 311edo than from here. -- VectorGraphics (talk) 00:16, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
: Yeah I think this is a rare case where the name is appropriate and the concept is novel enough to deserve a name. – Sintel🎏 (talk) 00:43, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
: Oh and by the way this idea is actually in use in my temperament finder right now, though I ended up just calling them families because gene isn't really a widely recognized term (I think?) – Sintel🎏 (talk)

Confusion about rank of a gene

"The dimension or rank of a gene is simply its rank as a temperament (which is one less than the rank of the subgroup is being tempered from)"

I don't understand the part in parentheses here. Why is it one less? —Keenan Pepper (talk) 21:14, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Because it tempers out one comma? FloraC (talk) 07:10, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
