There exists a 5L 2s scale in 17ET which can sound similar to the 7 tone diatonic scale in 12ET, and can feel quite familiar on a guitar. With this in mind, improvising in 17ET can be fairly intuitive.

Use the same step sizes: L L s L L L s, where L is 3 tones (or 211.8 cents), and s is 1 tone (or 70.6 cents).
