The izar comma, izarisma or bapbo schismina (ratio: 13841287201/13839609375, monzo: [0 -11 -7 12⟩) is an unnoticeable 3.5.7 subgroup comma with a value of approximately 0.21 ¢. It is the amount by which six intervals of 49/45 exceed 5/3, and in the 3.5.7 subgroup defines a microtemperament known as izar, which is supported not only by 13edt (the equal-tempered Bohlen-Pierce scale) but by various no-twos zeta peaks, such as 800edt, 1342edt, and 6181edt.
Temperaments
Tempering out this comma leads to the rank-three izarismic temperament in the full 7-limit. Rank-two temperaments which temper out this comma include domain, semidimi, and sesquiquartififths.
Etymology
This comma is named after Izar, Epsilon Boötis, a binary star system in Boötes.
