: I know there is a debate about whether tritave-equivalence, pentave-equivalence, etc. actually exist. Personally, I can’t hear tritave equivalence. I can only hear octave, 4ve, and 8ve equivalence. But even though I can’t hear it, it’s a fact that people have made music using tritave, pentave, etc. equivalence as a theoretical framework. So if people have made music using this idea, I think it should still count, even if I personally can’t hear it. | : I know there is a debate about whether tritave-equivalence, pentave-equivalence, etc. actually exist. : I’m happy to go with whatever the consensus is, though, because I don’t really have a strong opinion on what counts as an “equivalence interval” and what doesn’t. --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 02:40, 6 July 2023 (UTC) | : I’m happy to go with whatever the consensus is, though, because I don’t really have a strong opinion on what counts as an “equivalence interval” and what doesn’t. --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 02:40, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
: I was wondering the same. While I've seen many scales with diverse intervals of repetition, including equal divisions of various just intervals, I have seen very little accounts of people stating they actually hear anything else than octaves, and possibly tritaves (although even a stack of two tritaves is a stretch in my opinion). Scales like 10ed5 and 19ed11 may well feature a just interval different from the octave, that doesn't promote it automatically to the rank of "equivalence interval".
:: To be honest, I don't think this category is even necessary or relevant anyway; of course the page about equaves is needed, and relevant pages can link to each other, but having a category for that seems unjustified, especially since the boundaries for that category will most likely remain fuzzy forever. --Fredg999 (talk) 02:47, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
::: I’m happy for the category to be deleted. Should I go ahead and remove the category from the pages I added it to? --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 02:52, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
:::: I can handle it with my category edits accounts, it'll be faster using Cat-a-lot. --Fredg999 (talk) 02:56, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
::::: Awesome, thank you for doing that Fredg999 :) --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 02:57, 6 July 2023 (UTC) |
