MISS (Make It Simple Spoob) Notation is an extension of MIDI notation (12edo with sharps only) to 72edo. Other tunings are notated by rounding to the nearest note in the scale.
As per MIDI we have A4 = 440 Hz and every semitone is exactly 100 cents.
When notating other temperaments and the fixed pitch shared by both 72edo and the target tuning is C4 ≈ 261.6255653 Hz unless otherwise specified.
Rounding is done in cents (in logarithmic space).
Pitch | steps of 72edo from C4 |
---|---|
C♮4 | 0 |
C𝄮4 | 1 |
C4 | 2 |
TODO: Rest of the pitches and figure out how to tame Bravura.
Issues with the notation
Chord spelling suffers from everything being notated using sharps only.
Rounding breaks interval arithmetic.
