This page is just a giant dumping ground for bad 5-limit temperaments. Shouldn't we just make new family pages for these, instead of dumping all the 5-limit stuff here and all the 7-limit and higher extensions onto "<7-limit comma> temperaments"? It doesn't make much sense giving the 7-limit extension under 7-limit collections instead of the actual 5-limit temp's family (for example Diesic under Orwellismic temperaments rather than creating "Dieisic family"), and it will make this page much less cluttered. This would be quite like if 5-limit meantone was placed on a page which was jumbled up with unrelated 5-limit temperaments, septimal meantone was placed on starling temperaments, flattone in keemic temperaments, and dominant in mint temperaments. I can understand if the reason is that making all the family pages would flood the wiki, but this should be renamed to something like "miscellaneous 5-limit temperaments" if it's more for that than specifically very high badness temperaments. CompactStar (talk) 16:41, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Making families for all these temperaments certainly doesn't make sense. Your last point looks most reasonable to me. FloraC (talk) 02:15, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Alphabetical order

Temperaments in this page used to be sorted by badness. Is the alphabetical order more desirable? FloraC (talk) 12:09, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

The page may need to have a big loud message box at the top saying to sort the temperaments in order of badness.
Otherwise some editors won’t spot that the temperaments are ordered that way, as it may be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it.
They might put temperaments in the wrong order not out of opposition to the system, but simply out of not even noticing that there is a system.
