This page presents a novelty topic. It features ideas which are less likely to find practical applications in xenharmonic music. It may contain numbers that are impractically large, exceedingly complex, or chosen arbitrarily. Novelty topics are often developed by a single person or a small group. As such, this page may also feature idiosyncratic terms, notations, or conceptual frameworks.

Bastille comma is a 2.5.7 subgroup comma associated with temperament-merging 1407edo and 1789edo, which together produce 14/07/1789, the date of storming of Bastille.

Bastille comma is a small comma measuring about 25 cents, or alternately about 29 steps of 1407edo and 37 steps of 1789edo. However, because the circle of generators is so large, each of them is flattened by a really small amount of the comma, well below the step sizes, thus enabling the tuning.
