1024/1023, the kilobyte comma is a 31-limit superparticular comma of about 1.69 cents. It forms the difference between 32/31 and 33/32. By tempering it out is defined the kilobyte temperament, which enables the kilobyte chords. It is a Mersenne comma.
Etymology
The word kilobyte for this comma was introduced by Xenllium in 2023. It often refers to 1024 (210) bytes instead of 1000, arising from the prevalence of sizes that are powers of two in modern digital memory architectures.
