Valeri Brainin (aka Willi Brainin and Brainin-Passek, Russian: Валерий Борисович Брайнин (Valeri Borisovich Brainin)) is a Russian/German musicologist, music manager, composer, and poet. He developed the musical pedagogical "Brainin method".
In his paper Employment of Multicultural and Interdisciplinary Ideas in Ear Training (“Microchromatic” Pitch. “Coloured” Pitch) (2008), he proposed a system to approach 29edo as a way to combine the European 12-tone, the Arab-Iranian 17-tone and the Indian 22-tone systems.
