Multi-instrumentalist/composer, Jacky Ligon (b.1962) began composing with microtonal scales in 1984, and is an avid scale designer today. He has a background in electronic music and audio engineering, has composed for theatre and independent films, and played in the microtonal free-form improvisation group "Silent Tongues" 1990-95, where he performed on a midi wind controller, keyboards and percussion. Currently he resides in North Carolina, and is exploring the compositional possibilities of microtonal music creation with computers and hard disk recording, where acoustic and electronic timbres cohabitate. Compositional interests include myriad microtonal scales and polymetrical musical structures.
'''Jacky Ligon''' (b. 1962) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser, music software developer, sound designer, visual and video artist. Currently residing in the United States, he has composed music for theater, film, video art, as well as both solo and collaborative independent record releases in a broad range of musical styles. His motto is: "timbre is the new harmony…"

== Biography ==
Since the 1980s he has been exploring the vast sonic and expressive possibilities of composing music with alternative musical instrument intonation systems (just intonation, temperaments, microtonal, xenharmonic), as well as research involving scale-design and investigations into the relationships between intonation systems and musical instrument timbre.

From 2010 to 2019, Jacky founded and operated the Xen-Arts software development and musical instrument intonation research project (formerly at Xen-Arts.net). Xen-Arts was a collaborative project involving a group of programmers, researchers, musicians and composers from around the world, and produced a suite of educational freeware virtual-instruments and tutorials designed for learning about computer-music software sound-design, as well as for composing music with alternative musical instrument intonation systems beyond the ubiquitous Western 12-tone-equal-temperament.

In 2018, he created ScapesCircle Records, a netlabel with which he released a "dub-infused drums-and-scapes" 4-track EP, ''[[Transition]]''.
