Icon-Nutshell.png This page in a nutshell: Project Mospage is a long-term wiki project to clean up, maintain, and improve all MOS-related pages.

Goals:

  • Rewrite all pages related to individual moment of symmetry scales in a consistent manner.
  • Present information on mos pages in a temperament-agnostic manner, while also providing appropriate (and accurate) temperament correspondences.

Scope:

  • Primary pages:
    • Pages for abstract MOS patterns
  • Secondary pages:
    • Pages that describe properties and theory regarding MOS scales
    • TAMNAMS-related pages

Members

  • Ganaram inukshuk - Nearly all templates and modules, style guide, TAMNAMS integration, literally everything!

Special thanks to:

  • SupahstarSaga, Inthar, and Godtone for their initial work on TAMNAMS and initial mospage rewrites.
  • Fredg999, for helping with finding what info is important to include in the mos templates.

Open tasks

Primary tasks

For MOS pages:

  • Provide a style guide for MOS pages for:
    • Pages with sparse info (generally scales with high step counts).
    • Pages with plentiful info (generally scales with step counts 6-10).
  • Rewrite all MOS pages in accordance to style guide.
    • Rewrite 5L 2s and 5L 3s pages as an inaugural run.
    • Rewrite pages with step count 7.
    • Rewrite pages with step counts 6-10.
    • Rewrite pages with step counts less than 5.
    • Rewrite non-octave pages.
  • Provide temperament-related info in appropriate sections, with assistance from Xenharmonic Wiki:WikiProject TempClean.
    • Provide information for notable temperament correspondences.
    • Verify all scale trees.
  • Develop and refine appropriate templates to automate the presentation of common MOS-related data.

Secondary tasks

For theory pages:

  • Provide satisfactory definitions of a MOS scale at both the beginner and expert level.

For TAMNAMS:

  • Redefine TAMNAMS as a notationally agnostic means of presenting MOS scales, not just a system of naming scales, scale degrees, and intervals.
    • Ensure all TAMNAMS names are satisfactory.
    • Add a protocol for namechanges.
  • For TAMNAMS Extension, verify that these names are also satisfactory.
    • Give names used by Scale Workshop 3 its own section. Clean up these names or clarify their usage wherever they are used on MOS pages.
    • Provide a general, systemized naming scheme for child mosses.

Miscellaneous tasks

For MOS pages:

  • Provide audio examples.
