Purpose

I assume it is kind of an experiment, of "hey, 12edo has this property and lots of people use it — so I wonder if other scales with this property might also be useful? Let's document them". That seems to be the same reasoning in the early days behind EDOs, RTT, MOSES, and almost everything else in xenharmony — "a popular scale/tuning this property, I wonder if there's something special about this property that still holds if we generalise it to other things?".

Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't but this line of thinking — start with something known and generalise, seems to be at the heart of lots of xenharmonicism and is at play here too. --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 09:01, 18 May 2025 (UTC)

I understand 7\12 makes a 7 note scale and 5\12 makes a 5 note scale. But the more I think about it the more it seems like a complete coincidence. Strong law of small numbers applies here, and the page makes no attempt to actually convince the reader that there's anything more to it. – Sintel🎏 (talk) 17:01, 18 May 2025 (UTC)

That is a fair point. For now I will move it to Eliora's user space as an editable user page, and then someday if more composers or theorists ever start using the concept we will move it back to main space. --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 01:10, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
