Some things worth noting when comparing the Lumatone layouts for 12EDO

The Meantone/Pythagorean layout for 12EDO repeats the gamut enough times to enable the use of 4 manuals of just under 5 octaves each, while leaving some extra keys available both above and below to use for other purposes.

The Harmonic Table layout for 12EDO gives up the multi-manual option (because octaves are no longer horizontal), but in exchange, it provides a range of over 10 octaves, while still having some notes repeated vertically to avoid the need for awkward finger stretches for intervals that would otherwise wrap around vertically.

Did the above on 2024-11-16T04:21:16‎, and nobody has complained in the last few days, so I think I can call it good. Leaving the above for archival purposes. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 19:03, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Needs update for new Lumatone preset numbers, names, and "Melodic Mode"

Needs update for new Lumatone preset numbers, names, and addition of "Melodic Mode" = Wicki-Hayden mapping. This also affects some other layouts whose preset numbering may have shifted. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 15:00, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

. . . But probably better to wait on the update of their names for the layouts until they fix the 0-length file bug. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 07:56, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
Did this, since I realized that I don't actually need to know how the octaves are assigned in the "Melodic Mode" = Wicki-Hayden mapping, other than that they go to higher pitches going up in the layout. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 21:12, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
. . . But I figured out that if no octave offset is applied between groups of repeated notes, then the real start (going from the lowest pitches up) is in the lower right corner. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 22:33, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
