Candescent 48

The Candescent 48 tuning is a 48-tone piano tuning designed by Zhea Erose. It spans 4 octaves and can be approached as a neji of 12edo but one with irregular octaves.

History

Zhea began working on the tuning some time in 2021. At the Microtonal Adventure Festival in Bellingham, Washington, in 2022, Zhea re-tuned a piano to this tuning. Zhea described this tuning in writing in the description of her 2024 piece 'Candescent Angel' on YouTube.
