→The Accuracy Fever Dream: Just this really weird fever dream I had that combines a microtonal quest for accuracy, part of my day job, and an obscure Wendy's commercial from 1984 that I think I have seen maybe once before looking it up for this post |

This morning I had this weird fever dream about an increasingly futile effort to achieve perfect 5-limit and 7-limit accuracy by way of representation of pitches using DNA fragments (which I sometimes have to manipulate in my day job, although not for the purpose of representing pitches — that's a new one on me). DNA fragments representing the syntonic comma, the schisma, the septimal comma, and the garischisma were in little tubes of DNA, but as the commas got divided up in the ever more frantic quest for accuracy, the tubes of increasingly chopped-up DNA fragments representing increasingly smaller comma fractions got all mixed up into little pieces parts that nobody could any longer keep track of, and eventually I had to give up and pick some no-longer-identified DNA fragment representing (maybe) a random syntonic comma fragment and make a post with it concluding that we had reached saturation to the point of just-noticeable difference in the quest for accuracy, and that parts is parts. == Valentine Lumatone mappings (experimental for sizes other than 31edo) ==
31edo (copied from Lumatone mapping for 31edo, for which playability has been demonstrated):
The Universe of Music has used the following layout, demonstrated in Her Gentle Touch (2025). In this video, even notes are mapped to red keys, and odd notes are mapped to purple keys). This layout uses the valentine as its scale of construction, inspired by the Ultra-Compressed version of the Lumatone mapping for porcupine, but even more compressed. Octaves are in horizontal rows, but stretched out over a large distance (which would be even longer if the layout were not made extremely compressed), so that the range is just slightly over 3 octaves (not counting some gamut fragments in the upper left and lower right corners), while notes are repeated multiple times vertically (at a slant), which allows an easy reach for octaves and other intervals that would require very long fingers if only available purely horizontally.

46edo: | |||
Octaves start to slant down a bit. Playability not tested.
| |||
61edo: | |||
Octaves slant down more, but all notes still represented at least once. Playability not tested.

76edo: | |||
Octaves slant down severely, but all notes still represented at least once. Playability not tested.
| |||
77edo: | |||
Octaves now slant up; all notes still represented at least once. Playability not tested.
