This template starts on C, but most edo pages start on D. I believe this was chosen because D is in the middle of the circle of fifths (F-C-G-'''D'''-A-E-B), leading to the most symmetrical configuration. See also [[Ups and downs notation#Examples: EDOs 12-24]].
