The name sigelindisma was named by Xenllium in 2025. It refers to 552 Sigelinde, the asteroid. Which was in turn named after a fictional character. Before that, Douglas Blumeyer and Budjarn Lambeth proposed to name this comma marmosarubra in 2023, referring to the red mouse opossum, Marmosa rubra, species no. 552551 in the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS).
