Not to be confused with Template:Idiosyncratic terms.
Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]
This template should not be substituted.

The Idiosyncratic template is used in the body text of an article to indicate that a term is used only by a single person or a small group.

Note: You can use {{idio}} as a shortcut.

Usage notes

This template is not an indicator of the quality or usefulness of a term; it is only an indicator of how widely a term is used. It is designed to help readers distinguish terms that fellow xenharmonists are likely to recognize from other terms which don't have widespread usage.

This template may be removed once the term starts being used regularly within the community; sources should be provided somewhere in the article to show examples of usage outside of the work of the person who coined the word (or otherwise started using it first).

Pages using this template will be included in Category:Pages with idiosyncratic terms.
