Intro

Hi there! My name’s Aspen (A.K.A. These-of-We)! I’m an aspiring microtonalist, music theory nerd, wannabe game dev, and conlanger! I joined the Xenharmonic Wiki to work on a variety of topics, and learn more about alternate tunings! I go by she/they, but say she/her because if i say i accept they, people they me more than they she me.

Projects, Fun Facts, and Goals

Some of my current projects:

  • Creating tuning systems for aliens my sci-fi setting!
    • The simplest one is based on a simple 31-EDO diatonic scale, with a base frequency of 432.17 Hz, with different note names and notations!
    • I’m also planning some more ambitious ones, including some tritave-equivalent Bohlen-Pierce-inspired scales!
  • Composing small microtonal chiptune songs—some available on my youtube channel!
  • Conlanging for my friend’s fantasy religion! Not much to share on that front!

Fun facts about me:

  • I’m a socialist and proud of it!
  • It took me a week to log in because it crashed every time I tried to use the temporary password I was sent.
  • I’m very queer, and find odd music to be validating of my odd identity!

My goals on this wiki:

  • General touch ups!
  • Expansions to categories of pages like MOS scales!
  • Work on more obscure tunings like EDNOIs!

Microtonal Journey

I first was introduced to microtonality by youtube videos of 31-EDO music! I then found Sevish, and within a few days of that, found Angine de Poitrine! AdP then went on to become wildly famous just a few days later, and I went way deeper into xenharmony after that! My favorite microtonalist to this day is Wendy Carlos, because a.) EDNOIs, b.) trans rep and c.) just cool music?? I now occasionally compose in xenharmonic tunings, and love reading up on alternate tunings!
