Here is the spectrum of minor thirds. 8/7 and 11/9 are generally not considered minor thirds, though intervals even slightly closer to typical minor thirds often are, so they are considered the endpoints, with 7/6 and 6/5 being very important as well. We consider successive mediants of nearby intervals as the next step in complexity after them.
