Mavilla
Adding a description of the melodic effects of pelogic temperament (E.A. Mavila)
Feel free to expand/edit for accuracy, but please don't delete my additions for no reason. *cough*lumma*cough* thanks.

Spring cleaning of names
This was a huge pain but I've finally come up with a sensible naming convention for the 7-limit mavila extensions. My rationale is here: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/tuning/message/101194

Hornbostel temperament seems to have bitten the big one.

Yeah, I switched it up after talking to Graham. You can see my followup for why I changed it. The old Hornbostel made sense as a general "septimal mavila," for all the reasons listed in the followup. The new Hornbostel is basically mavila meets flattone, which is a tuning that more or less only works in 23-equal anyway.

Hi, Mike. Hornbostel is my admiration (and maybe my 'passione' :P ) and Armodue my 'angular stone'.
I had founded that 'Hornbostel mood' or 'Hornbostel temperament' fits very well, like a very accurate temperament of course, in 131edo, 177edo, 193edo, 200edo and (for me the most equilibrated) 223edo. But, with respect the 'accuracy' of the interval (2^17)/(3^11) (678.495 Cents or 5597,6 Purdals (; ) like a blown fifth, 214edo (121\214edo) and 237edo (134\237edo)are very accurate in that (359edo too works so-so well in it [203\359edo]).
Incredibly, Alexei Ogolevets thinks in 200edo like a possible best Musical Tempered System for all the cultures of the world. He was great!
