Why stop at 27

...when 31 or 34 seem to make more plausible stopping points?

Just a guess: because he has not as much experience with 28 and 30 and did not spend time on exploring it - the list has no gaps so far.

26edo

Hi Keenan,

what do you think about 26edo -

Is there a benefit that goes beyond the presence of 7/4?

- xenwolf March 28, 2012, 02:36:22 AM UTC-0700

"The presence of 7/4" has nothing to do with my impression of it. Individual intervals hardly matter at all, it's the relationships between them that are important.

26edo is the one meantone temperament everyone seems to forget about.

26edo is great because of flattone, injera, and mothra. Flattone in particular is mind-blowing because it's meantone but 8/7 and 7/6 are switched from what they are in septimal meantone (e.g. 31edo). Play parallel 3-step intervals in flattone[12] to see what I mean. Some are 6/5 and some are 8/7. It's much easier to perceive flattone[12] as being unequal than it is for meantone[12] in 31edo.
