The equal division of 23/1 (ed23) is a tuning obtained by dividing the 23rd harmonic (23/1) into a number of equal steps.

Properties

Division of 23/1 into equal parts does not necessarily imply directly using this interval as an equivalence. Indeed, 23/1 is so wide that using it as an equivalence would likely be impractical. Many, though not all, ed23/1 scales have a perceptually important false octave, with various degrees of accuracy.
