Fretless saxophone
The fretless saxophone is a single-reed woodwind instrument that has one long slit instead of finger holes. The slot is covered with a flexible strip that tends to lift away from the slot, but can be pressed into the slot with the player's fingers. As such, it is an instrument of continuously variable pitch, except for the pitch difference corresponding to the short distance between the end of the slot and the end of the instrument tube.
