Quasi-diatonic MOS notation (QDMN) is a JI-agnostic microtonal notation system for MOS scales with 4 or more notes developed by CompactStar. It is optimized specifically for backwards-compatibility with existing diatonic notation. For 5L 2s it is identical to standard notation, and for 2L 5s it is identical to the melodic (also known as "major wider than minor") notation.

Note names

The note name ABC... are used as the naturals for every MOS and repeat at the MOS's equave. A is fixed to 440 Hz and the mode starting on D is fixed to be the "middle" mode, defined as ceil((n-1)/2)|floor((n-1)/2) for n tones in UDP notation (for example this is 2|2 for 5 tones, 3|2 for 6 tones, 3|3 for 7 tones, 4|3 for 8 tones, and 4|4 for 9 tones).
