- "Archytas" redirects here. For the ancient Greek Pythagorean, see Wikipedia: Archytas.
Ares is the rank-3 regular temperament of the 11-limit that tempers out 64/63 and 100/99. It also tempers out their difference, 176/175. It is one of the best extensions of archytas, the rank-3 temperament tempering out 64/63.
For technical data, see Archytas family #Ares. See also: Ptolemismic clan #Ares.
Etymology
This temperament is named after the Greek god Ares, most likely related to the fact that Archytas was Greek.
