| Quasi-diatonic MOS notation (QDMN) is a JI-agnostic microtonal notation system for MOS scales developed by CompactStar. It is optimized specifically for backwards-compatibility with existing diatonic notation. For 5L 2s it is identical to standard notation, and for 2L 5s it is identical to the melodic (also known as "major wider than minor") notation.

| The note name ABC. are used as the naturals for every MOS and repeat at the MOS's equave. A4 is fixed to 440 Hz, and the scale of naturals starting on B is fixed to the MOS's darkest mode (alternative definitions for these should be explicitly stated). The accidentals #/b are set to raise and lower by the chroma (L-s).
