63488/63423, the telephonisma, is a small 31-limit comma (specifically 2.3.29.31; nominally the quotient between 31/29 and an apotome. It is also the difference between:
- 256/243 and 261/248
- 124/87 and 729/512
- 19712/19683 and 2233/2232 [2.3.7.11.29.31]
- 784/783 and 3969/3968 [2.3.7.29.31]
The latter equivalence allows it to manifest with the S-expression S28/S63, providing a high accuracy representation of the high primes through a 2.3.7 subgroup basis.
Temperaments
Gary provides a high accuracy add-29,31 extension, making the entire 2.3.7.11.29.31 subgroup reachable with great accuracy through an ever so slightly sharp-of-just chain of fifths.
Etymology
The comma was named by Eufalesio in 2026. Its name comes from the fact that it connects two distant pairs of primes, 2.3 with 29.31, in a highly efficient manner.
