17- and 19-limit extensions

Most of the 17-limit extensions look quite bad. I wonder if it's better to skip prime 17 and go straight for 19 instead. FloraC (talk) 16:30, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

Since tetracot exaggerates the difference between 9/8 and 10/9, it doesn't make sense to equate 19/17 with either of them (except for maybe 9/8 in 48edo). The 7edo tuning should also map 19/17 to 1\7 for it to deserve canonicity, though it's impossible to do this accurately without splitting 81/80 in two. Since there is a fairly obvious canonical 19/7 at +3 generators, most of these shouldn't be extended to 17. --Overthink (talk) 20:33, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
