The Editable user page template adds a message box to inform readers that a page in user space is open to contributions from other users.

Pages with this message box are placed in Category:Editable user pages.

Usage

This template should be placed at the beginning of a page or section. The terms in question, or a description of the terms in question, should be entered as an unnamed parameter. Typing the code below, for example:

{{Editable user page|Please help me complete this table and check my math}}

produces the following:

This user space page is editable by the public.

Although this is not a universal rule, it is usually assumed that pages without “User:” at the beginning are open for anyone to edit, but pages beginning with “User:” are only edited by the user who authored them.

However by including this message box, the author of this user space page has indicated that this page is open to contributions from others.
