Here would be my definition of the word "note":
- a location in pitch,
- a location in time,
- a location on a musical instrument or
- a symbol for any of the first three.
In music, the term note has three primary meanings:
- A sign used in musical notation to represent the relative duration and pitch of a sound (♪, ♫);
- A pitched sound itself.
- A pitch class.
