The following mapping of Bohlen–Pierce temperament to the Lumatone keyboard has these desirable properties:

  • It is a mapping of the full rank-2 temperament, not just 13edt. In other words, adjacent accidental notes such as C♯ and D♭ are not assumed to be necessarily equivalent.
  • Its range is over 6 full tritaves.
  • Modulation into quite distant keys is possible.
  • The BP diatonic modes ("Lambda" and so on) have an intuitive zigzag shape on the keyboard.
