::: Do you have a suggestion for a name for this interval? Cuz I do genuinely believe it is a kind of diesis, and one that is easily discoverable and not unfamiliar to xen theorists to do with tritones. I'd be more than happy to scrap the name for another name involving "diesis" if that's your only concern. (I'd suggest "meantone diesis" as it's basically characteristic of meantone but that's a bit ambiguous potentially...) --Godtone (talk) 16:06, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
:::: I do agree this is a kind of diesis, but I think the new name should solve the name for the corresponding temperament too. Meantone diesis is indeed not very clear, as it may refer to the d2 in meantone. So, I suggest abercomma/aberdiesis, cuz this interval is a Pythagorean comma + an aberschisma. The temperament? Abercommic/aberdietic, I suppose. (I don't feel strongly about comma vs diesis here tho it should be noted it's smaller than Sagittal's range of a diesis. Not that I treat Sagittal as an absolute authority but still.) —FloraC (talk) 20:04, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
::::: I like aberdiesis, especially since 3645/3584 the enharmonic diesis in aberschismic temperament. I tend to assume this as a structural meaning rather than size-based, especially because Sagittal's range of diesis excludes the Pythagorean comma for some strange reason, despite that interval being the absolute 'de facto' diesis of the 3-limit. ::::: I strongly support aberdiesis as to me it justifies the otherwise-senseless rename of 5120/5103 = S8/S9, as it's clearly related. --Godtone (talk) 21:45, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
