I'd rather not create awkward separations between microtonal theory and standard music theory when they aren't necessary. In my experience, I have seen no ambiguity introduced by calling microtonal inflections "accidentals". : I shared some opinions about the vocabulary on Discord, but I think the merge is justified no matter how the rest is treated.
