The term subchromatic has several meanings.
- Small (commatic), nondiatonic dimensions of higher-rank extended-diatonic temeraments.
- Small, nondiatonic accidentals (regardless of whether it is tempered out or not) in some extended diatonic notations.
The term subchroma also has several meanings.
- An interval that acts like a chroma for subdivided interval quality, e.g. difference between minor and subminor.
- Any interval smaller than chromatic.
