hi hi hi hello i like xen

ex fl studio user now i like reaper

i think chosing a tuning is as important as any other aspect of music like sound design or arrangement and stuff (i am very much a sound design person i like doing things in synths for hours)

i like edos since my music is usually very harmonically agile (for the better or for the worst) so i like having similar sounds across different keys. maybe i should try well temperaments

i like reading about theory even though i probably don't use 90% of what i read

i really like mos scales, this is part of the 10% that i actively use in xen composition

my soundcloud has some xen stuff https://soundcloud.com/user-93218934 although i am planning to upload things to youtube instead when i get back to making music (i will be doing other things for a while and i will only open a daw or musescore for school assignments for now)

easy way to find the step sizes of mos scales in edos

- in 29 edo if i want a mos generated by 13/10, which is 11/29 or 18/29

we have 1L 1s

from there you can do the child mos operation repeatedly which is pretty easy since it's just substractions

L - s = c

18 - 11 = 7

11 - 7 = 4

7 - 4 = 3

4 - 3 = 1

3 - 1 = 2

2 - 1 = 1

1 - 1 = 0

from there you can also find the mos scale signature itself by looking at the hardness

(if the ratio is soft-of-basic the child of xLys will be (x+y)Lxs and if it's hard of basic the child will be (x)L(x+y)s)

1L1s 18:11 is soft so the child is 2L1s

2L1s 11:7 (soft)

3L2s 7:4 (soft)

5L3s 4:3 (soft)

8L5s 3:1 (hard)

8L13s 2:1 basic and the next mos is equalized
