King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are an Australian rock band formed in 2010 in Melbourne, Victoria.
The band uses custom or modified instruments, including guitars, harmonica and keyboards, tuned to a subset of 24edo. The microtonal scale they use the most often is similar to the Dorian mode, but with a half-flat 2nd and a half-flat 6th. It is inspired by the tuning they found on a bağlama, a Turkish instrument,[1] and the scale is similar to a Bayati makam consisting of an Uşşâk tetrachord followed by a Rast pentachord.
